Earlier this month we had to say "Goodbye" to Dewie, our little senior with cancer. Given only a couple of weeks to live, he lasted 2 1/2 months and knew love and kindness. His sparkling personality made him easy to love. His foster Mom said he was such a jewel and was so very lucky to have him even for a short time. Dewie was in his foster Mom's loving arms as she bid farewell to him. Rest In Peace our funny little fluffy bunny.
Miso Has Found Her Forever Family
We have wonderful news. Our little foster, Miso, has been adopted! Miso came to us as a hot little allergic mess, scratching, with patches of hair missing and skin showing. She also had severe dental disease. Under the loving care of her foster parents, Sharon and Bob, her skin sister, Jada and her vets, she is doing so much better. Her hair is growing in, she's not scratching like she did and her dental took care of her teeth issues. Well, after all that work, Miso's foster family just couldn't give her up and have adopted her!! We know she is loved to the moon and back.
Help Us Welcome Cooper
We would like to introduce you to our latest handsome foster Cooper. Cooper was found in the streets of NYC as a stray and was brought to the ACC by a woman who found him. He came in fairly friendly, but in the days the shelter was searching for his family, his behavior went downhill and he became aggressive. He snapped at staff when he was examined and growled if you approached him. He was petrified in the crowded noisy shelter.
Our Northeast Coordinator, Sue, went to meet Cooper and she saw that he was just scared. She contacted one of our new foster moms, Deb, who lives upstate and she agreed to take him. The shelter thinks Cooper is 2-3 years old. He's 12 lbs and his hair is very matted, but he's reactive to shaving it. Deb is getting the mats out slowly as he's learning how to trust and behave. He's already finding out that he's safe and loved. It will be a while until he's ready for adoption.

FOSTER HOMES NEEDED!!
We are in dire need of Foster Homes throughout the United States. Daily we receive requests to take in dogs from shelters or owners needing to surrender them. The only way we can accept these dogs is if we have a place to put them. We hate turning them down but sometimes we have no choice and they may end up in a shelter or abandoned on the street.
If you would like to help us by Fostering please read our Foster Questions and Answers then fill out the Foster Applicaton at the top of that page.
