2020 has certainty brought us many challenges.  All of us at AMAR hope that you and  your loved ones are healthy and safe. Our volunteers are still working very hard making sure all of our rescue Maltese are in safe and loving foster homes.   We have had quite a few rescue dogs who have had medical issues and all of you have supported us with donations, good thoughts and prayers.  We have also had several adoptions during this uncertain time   We truly thank you for your love and support.

❤️ Welcome Charlie â¤ï¸
Please help us welcome our latest AMAR foster, Charlie. He’s a 7-month-old Maltese/Poodle mix who came to us as a victim of abuse.  He was taken to a vet by the family and diagnosed with fluid on the brain and blindness. They were going to dump him in a shelter, when a dog-loving woman who lived nearby said she’d find a home for him. They gave Charlie up to her. She called us and our amazing volunteers transported him from NJ to MA to a terrific foster mom. We are praying the damage is reversible and have set up an appointment for a neurologist, where he will need an expensive MRI at the very least.   We are in need of donations to help with his vet bills....no amount is too small.

❤️ Bolt & Taffie Have Found Their Forever Home â¤ï¸
We are thrilled that two of our special needs FurBabies have been adopted by the same wonderful person. Bolt, on the left, is prone to have cluster seizures and Taffie, on the right, has advanced degenerative valve disease. Unfortunately, neither of these conditions are new to their adoptive mom. Not long ago, she lost her FurBabies to these same conditions. Fortunately for Bolt and Taffie, they could not have found a better adoptive home, since their mom understands their issues and the importance of their daily medications. We know that Bolt and Taffie will be loved for the rest of their lives.
❤️  Osin Has Found His Forever Home❤️

Please join us  in congratulating our little cleft palate foster, Oisin, on finding his forever home. He likes to be near his person so   his new Mom has gotten a sling so she can carry him with her most places she goes. He also shares her bed. Since he is all of 4 pounds he doesn't take up much room and she doesn't mind.

❤️Daisy Has Found Her Forever Home ❤️

We have a beautiful adoption to announce. Daisy has found her forever family with Susan and Bernie, who fostered her.  Daisy is 10 years old and has a very serious heart condition, which is being treated. Her prognosis is for a year, but we think she loves her new home so much that she might be sticking around a lot longer. We are so thankful that she is so loved by both her new parents.  Long life, Daisy!

❤️Featured Fosters ~ Jolie & Jules ❤️

Jolie & Jules are a very bonded pair of sisters who MUST be adopted together.

They are 3 years old, full of life and very playful with each other.    As these girls are still shy, they will need someone who is willing to work with them as far as housebreaking, and patience to get them to trust you. They have been with their Foster Mom Stephanie since June 5th and  while she works with them each day, she still has not been able to just reach out and pet Jules.  She is like a feral dog, afraid of human touch.    Jolie is more trusting and although she will still try to get away at times she enjoys being petted and held.  Neither one walks well on a leash so that is also something that will need patience and work.  Therefore, whoever adopts them MUST have a fenced yard, preferably privacy fence as Jules can easily climb a chain link fence if scared and cornered. Neither one is at all aggressive even when cornered to pick them up.  Stephanie has every bit of faith that they will one day be the most loving pair of little girls you could ever want.

If you think these are the girls for you and you are in driving distance of Newmanstown, PA, please fill out an adoption application on our website.

💙 Toby & Brady  ~ PupDate 💙
AMAR was happy to hear from Toby and Brady’s family who adopted them a year ago. They are so happy and healthy and Jean and Jack love having them. They wrote:

"We’ve had such positive reactions from family members who have been anxious for us to have dogs again. We were just waiting for the right ones and we’re so glad we found Brady and Toby.”  There couldn’t have been a better match!

❤️ Holly ~ PupDate â¤ï¸
AMAR was so happy to hear from Holly's forever family, Paul and Lisa.  Here is what they had to share with us:

We adopted Holly On October 22, 2014 we met with Dawn Isley and immediately agreed to give her the best life possible.  Five and a half years later Holly is healthy and happy and our joy in life.

❤️ Kaylee ~  PupDate â¤ï¸

AMAR was so happy to hear from Kaylee's forever family, Keith and Rosemary.   Here is what they had to share with us.

Kaylee (aka Kaylen) was adopted  from Eastern PA  December 21, 2019.  She went on her first road trip to Ohio , got up on the dash before we got her settled in.  Thanks to AMAR, she is a wonderful  girl.

â¤ï¸ Rest In Peace Clara â¤ï¸

Clara was found wandering the streets earlier this year in Ukiah, California and was brought into Mendocino Animal Care Services.   Chandra, who is one of our Board Members and Foster Providers, volunteers there immediately decided to foster her.    It became clear that Clara was a special girl who needed to be transferred to a rescue group.    AMAR and our National President Edie agreed to take Clara in and give her a forever home.   In June Clara’s vet found a huge tumor in her liver and sadly we had to say goodbye to her.  While Clara lived with Edie only for a short time, she was very loved.  Both Edie and Chandra say that Clara was one of the sweetest little dogs they had.   Rest In Peace sweet Clara, you are dearly missed.

🐾   Ways You Can Help Ã°ÂŸÂÂ¾

FOSTER HOMES NEEDED!!
We are in dire need of Foster Homes throughout the United States. Daily we receive requests to take in dogs from shelters or owners needing to surrender them. The only way we can accept these dogs is if we have a place to put them. We hate turning them down but sometimes we have no choice and they may end up in a shelter or abandoned on the street.

If you would like to help us by Fostering please read our Foster Questions and Answers then fill out the Foster Applicaton at the top of that page.
